Great post. Blog Action Day was cool - check out my post at www.thesquigglyline.com/blog on your connectivity issues. Hopefully some stuff there you can use, with some comments to come which will be insightful and helpful (should be!).

Let me know if it proves to be helpful. :)

Confucious says "Barang chicks who bargain with tuk tuk driver with 8 mouths at home waiting for dinner sure regret it later"

Confucious also says "Barang chick who don't bargain with tuk tuk driver sure will have a hundred tuk tuk drivers follow her everywhere she goes."

And the Master also says "When you have resolved this conumdrum, you have finally arrived in this wonderful place called ASIA"

Believe it or not, coke bottles do not melt when gasoline is put in them. They use the glass Johnny Walked Red kind as well, but as far as i can tell, that's just to confuse/rip off the customer as they are only 750ml and not 1ltr.

As far as the exodus goes, it just seems to the nature of the community, that there are always people coming and going and sometimes it happens in waves. After being here for four months, I have 5 numbers saved in my phone of friends who have left for their home countries of next adventures... and we just got two new arrivals on Monday night, the new intake of AYADs, fresh off the boat from Aus! I feel a Bong (as Battambang is affectionately referred to) revival coming on. Our meanderings last night turned to the possibility of holding a Bong Barang Talent Quest...

It's seem like being a volunteer in a foreign land is not so easy. You have to overcome barrier such as language and communication especially when dealing with the local people there. But i think our smart girl here have her way of communicating with the local people.

Well done, Mel.
